Default Conzult/consult probs (prob easy for those in the know lol)

Right, i bought the consult thingy on ebay, obviously its com1 port thingy (dont pick on me, i know naff all about that kinda thing, wish i had taken lessons in pc's lol).
Bought a serial to usb converter but no joy at all. I'm running WIndows 7 and it does not even recognise it on my laptop. Got the cd's that come with such gizmo's and tried installing them (drivers?) and still no joy.
Can anyone that knows pc's and speaks english (by that i mean laymans terms or idiot terms lol) help me out a bit please

Okay, I may be wrong but I think it's in the right area. When you install anything in windows 7 you get the opportunity to run it in Compatibility Mode which tells your PC it's running an older version of Windows. If (after you've stuck the disk in and let it do its thing) you open the disk (to see the files on there) and then right click on the installer file, it'll give you the opportunity to install and run it in Compatibility Mode. The other thing you could do is do a google search on Running Conzult in Windows 7 (because there is almost certainly gonna be someone out there who can explain it better than me).
