Old tip but when riding my bike it made my riding much more smooth.

Always force yourself to look as far down the road as you are able. Keep your focus there, your peripheral vision will take care of whats closer to you. By focusing on what is far away you will be prepared for everything before you get to it also it will appear that the outside world is not moving so quickly and therefore your input will be smoother. Also dont forget to force your eyes to scan from side to side this helps pick up any clues as mentioned earlier.

As a coach driver and ex paramedic, i have taken a few courses in driving (as you do lol) and one of the things i always have in the back of my mind is whats going on with the car 6 in front and where the fook is that biker. My instructor told me that as bikers appear from nowhere, you need to keep moving your head and checking your mirrors..
Admittedly, in a 40ft coach, everything comes at you/aims at you (or so it seems) so my ethos is look as far ahead as you can, look behind you every 15 or so seconds and keep an eye on your sides

When on the motorway keep your distance, check your mirrors more than usual and observe whats happening as far ahead as you can see, you will find that you can change lanes and proceed without having to slow down or brake too often.

When coming down the slip road to join the motorway accellerate to match the flow of the traffic to filter onto the motorway smoothly and when leaving the motorway dont start to brake until on the slip road so as not to hinder other traffic.

    And of course dont speed.....................................
